" Chicken Farming has become a profitable business. "

Recently, Mr. Bumchul Hong, the owner of Foxvalley farm, which is keeping 42,000 broilers in Yang-ju, Gyunggi-do, is high-spirited in chicken farming.

Eighteen years ago, Mr. Hong put his feet into the livestock industry with several milk cows. While running a dairy farm, he could make some money, but it took so much time from his life. For that reason, he changed from milk cows to broilers, five years ago. At first, he started with 10,000 broilers. However, Newcastle Disease killed all the 10,000 broilers.

After the painful experience, Mr. Hong used several probiotic products, but diseases still happened to break out.

In the mean time, he could see the ad of Biotite V, made by Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd, a life science company, in a livestock magazine, and he was supplied 50kg of Biotite V from Sol to Bio (another name of Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd) as a test sample and provided Biotite V to 10,000 broilers. Biotite V addition resulted in broiler’s weight gain and could ship out broilers two days earlier than before.

The most important thing in a broiler farm is to reduce the mortality rate. Whereas the mortality rate of ordinary farms is around 5%, after Biotite V addition, the rate went down to 2% in Foxvalley farm.

Mr. Hong said, “What matters is the death of broilers around market weight,” and, “to prevent the death of grown-up broilers for the market, I increased the rate of Biotite V addition from medium sized chickens.” Actually, in Foxvalley farm, 0.2% of Biotite V in the feed of baby broilers and 0.5% in the feed of broilers after 20 days are used.

Mr. Hong said, “before the use of the product of SoltoBio, there was no left over feed, but after Biotite V addition feed conversion rate dropped down”, and proudly told, “recently, I could save 5,230kg of feed and the additional profit was US $1,263.”

Furthermore, Biotite V almost eliminated the bad smell of the farm. Foxvalley farm has already ordered 2,000kg of Biotite V to keep pace with the Environment Friendly Program of Yangju province. Mr. Hong predicted, “It seems that the fortified regulation on antibiotics residue and environment friendly policy of the government could put the livestock farms in a difficult situation in the near future,” and accentuated, “I would lead the environment friendly livestock business by using Biotite V.”

He said, “Though the price of broilers has gone down recently, I am making profits and planning to enlarge the farm to 50,000 broilers.”
