Recently, the KFDA (Korea Food & Drug Administration), announced its first research results on “National Antimicrobial Resistance Safety Control System” with experts, the Korea Consumer Protection Board, etc. to reduce the bad effects by overuse and misuse of antibiotics. The research, conducted in three fields, clinical, food and environmental area, respectively, discovered that some viruses picked up from healthy people, patients, animals, foods, and so on, recorded the world’s highest level of antibiotics resistance rate, disclosing the current serious antibiotics overuse and misuse in Korea.

This result is being considered to be very shocking news for people living in the “era of confused food culture” formed from the outbreaks of food troubles in turn.

Most of the beef meats currently being produced in western world are no longer coming from the grass fed cows raised in pastureland.

For the fast producing of tender and high quality meat with the least expense, “Factory Farming” is a globally used method in livestock farms and companies. The method is used only to gain much more profits, confining animals in small pens.

To prevent outbreak of diseases in the animals under the poor conditions, antibiotics is fed and injected to the animals far over level of recommended dosage, and to produce much more meats and eggs growth promoters are used frequently and repeatedly.

Last 2002, Prof. Kim, In-ho and Mr. Kwon, o-suk (Department of Animal science & Resources at Dankook University) announced a research results, “Evaluation of Biotite V as a Replacement of Antibiotics in Growing Pig Diets”, at the world’s most famous animal science association, “Joint Meeting”, in which 0.3% inclusion of Biotite V in growing pigs’ diets showed increase in growth rate and improvement in digestibility of dry matters and Nitrogen.

According to the test conducted on August and September 2002 in Toyoura Animal Medical Clinic, Kanakawa-ken, Japan, only one pig was dead out of 110 pigs in Biotite V fed group during the two months compared to 15 dead pigs in the control group.

Recently, after successful test on 600 piglets with Biotite V, a leading Spanish animal feed medication developer and manufacturer has started importing Biotite V, in the amount of 20 tons to Barcelona. Ahead of Spain, Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. acquired business license from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan.

Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. entered into a long-term supply contract with the Japanese partner to supply approximately 100 tons per month for the first 6 months and has shipped out its first products to Japan on last Dec 23. The Japanese company has further agreed to increase its level of demand to 300 tons per month for the remaining 18 months and a further increase top 600 tons per month thereafter.

The fact, the penetration into the Asia’s leading and most conservative regulatory Japanese market, simply shows that Biotite V is very effective in improving growth, feed intake and feed efficiency of piglets.

Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. is planning to extend its market reach to Portugal, Italy and France based on the success in Japanese and Spanish market.

This first research project of Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. has been announced two times as “Evaluation of Antibiotics Substitute” at “ADSA-ASAS Joint Meeting”, the world’s most famous animal science association, held in the year 2002 at Quebec, Canada and in the year 2003 at Phoenix, the US. Biotite V acquired domestic patent as "Animal Feed Material as a Antibiotics Substitute", and PCT pending to 22 countries internationally.

In domestic market, the effects of Biotite V have been proven in more than 10,000 farms, and the products are also being supplied to the feed plants of NACF, National Agricultural Cooperative Federation. Thousands of tons are provided annually in domestic market only.

Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. is entering the Chinese market, the only existing emerging market in the world, along with the successful launch of Biotite V in Korea, Japan and Spain.

Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. agreed to research on pigs and broilers further with CAU (China Agricultural University) and the research is at its finishing stage. The interim trial results from CAU proved Biotite V was effective in reducing mortalities and enhancing feed efficiency remarkably.

Through much closer customer and quality management, Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. will reinforce its Biotite V sales and keep going on developing innovative new natural materials.

In addition to it, Seobong BioBestech Co., Ltd. is accelerating R&D for the development of blockbuster drugs and drug related raw materials for immune enhancer, anti-cancer, anti-obesity and other diseases on the basis of the accumulated hands-on technologies acquired from the antibiotics replacement products development experience.
