Feed conversion of broiler is 1.5. It’s great!

Recently, “Sungsu Farm” (its location is Dangwoori, Yu-dong, Judeok-eup, Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea), owned by Jongsun Kim (56) and Kyungmoon Lee (52) couple, has shown the feed conversion of around 1.5. It’s no wonder many broiler farm owners near Sungsu Farm envy of the excellent result.

Started the farm management business since 1976 with three hundred broilers, Mr. Kim has developed his business up to 60,000 broilers keeping big farm. And ever since middle of 1980 Mr. Kim has tried to improve feed conversion by providing cold pure water, charcoal powder, etc., which are known good for the health of poultry, and as a result of the efforts, he could keep feed conversion at the level of 1.6 for the past five years.

Lately, Mr. Kim can’t help showing off his joy because of the remarkably decreased feed conversion by 0.1 in such a short period.
Mr. Kim explains, “In a farm that manages around sixty thousand broilers, 0.1 decrease in feed conversion rate has the effect of more than US $2,100 curtail in feed purchase cost”.
According to him, in a broiler group that was sold from Jan 16 to 17 2003, the feed conversion was surprising 1.508, and the survival rate was acceptable 97.258%.

Mr. Kim considers Biotite V of Soltobio (fed in feed from the end of 2002) as the cause of the great results above. He says, “I have managed the farm without any change except for the addition of Biotite V in feed’.
He started to add 0.2% of Biotite V in the feed for 20,000 broilers since last Oct. After the first addition of Biotite V, the number of 15 to 16 dead broilers per day among 20,000 broilers steeply went down to 1 to 2. Furthermore, the feed conversion was 1.497 and the average weight of the 20,000 broilers group was 1.5kg when it was raised only for 31~32 days. Since then, Mr. Kim expanded Biotite V addition in feed to all the broiler groups.

In addition to it, he recommended Biotite V addition to his friends, Byungsuh Kim (52) and Wonu Lee (46), who, also managing poultry farms, and the results were good. In Mr. Byungsuh Kim’s case, though IB, Infectious Bronchitis, was widespread during the trial of Biotite V addition period, feed conversion was comparatively low 1.78.
Mr. Jongsun Kim says he expects 1.5 of feed conversion for the whole year and it’s much more cost effective to use Biotite V for his 60,000 broilers. He adds that moreover, the immunity and the meat quality of broilers improved.
