“Biotite V was effective”

Kumnam Farm cleaned up PMWS without a serious damage
 

  Kumnam farm has 180 sows and consists of six buildings: for delivering sows and piglets (1), for pregnant sows (1), for growing pigs (1), for finishing pigs (2), playground (1). The farm adopted all-in, all-out swine production system. The weaning period is around 23-25 days old and sow replacement rate is good 40%.

  In particular, more than 90% of pigs from the farm are being graded A or B and the pigs are being provided to Daejeon-Chungnam Swine Cooperative to process and distribute them with the brand name,“Gil pork”.

  Usually, the mortality rate of piglets in Kumnam farm had been around 2% based on the thorough farm management and preventive measures against epidemics. However, the outbreak of PMWS deteriorated the mortality rate of piglets up to 10%. Mr. Kim recalled “It was really embarrassing to see soaring numbers of piglets fell dead. It was too painful to see. However, fortunately, the damage was not so big and the disease was cleaned up in its early stage.”

  At first, Mr. Kim improved the nutrition for sows and piglets to eliminate PMWS. He provided sows with blood meal and yellow earth, and fed piglets with blood meal and milk. Extensive care was also carried on to post-weaning piglets for 10 days with specially treated diets and he has the sows work out to improve the strength of the hind legs.

  Mr. Kim said “I haven’t experienced PMWS during the whole 15 years of my farm business” and “continuous use of Biotite V seems to have been effective.”

  Moreover, he emphasized “the cost for vaccines and other medicines reduced very much after the use of Biotite V” and “it seems to improve the immune system of pigs.”

  He has been using Soltobio’s Biotite V for three years since the test trial on Biotite V in the pig farms in Yeongi-gun area. Kumnam farm was one of them.

  Mr. Kim accentuated “Taking preventive measures is the best way against PMWS. In this point of view, Biotite V works fully as antibiotics replacement with its immune system enhancement and cost reducing benefits.”

  He also added that Biotite V might be the best product for his goal to produce safe and tasty meats.
