Broadcast of Seobong Biobestech, a bio-venture company who developed antibiotic substitute
Anchor: A new material has been developed by a venture company. The material said to work as an antibiotics replacement. Kim, Hak-jae reports.
Reporter: Antibiotics is used for growth promotion in food-producing animals like pigs, chickens...the consumption of such animal meat results in the antibiotics residues in our body that consequently leads to the emergence of antibiotics resistance, and drugs don’t work effectively. Domestically, almost 100 kinds of antibiotics are used in animal feed annually and the quantity is more than 20, 000 metric tons. Recently, a venture company has developed an antibiotics replaceable feed additive utilizing Biotite. The additive is known to improve the immune system of animals remarkably.
Prof. Kim, In-ho (Department of Animal Resource & Science at Dankook University): the research has proved Biotite V can substitute antibiotics in animal feed and enhance the immune system of animal body….
Reporter: Phosphorus and nitrogen reduction in animal feces also found, which means the reduction of environmental pollution.
Jung, Il-Byung (National Livestock Research Institute): Trial results showed Phosphorus and Nitrogen reduction, so the ammonia gas concentration in pigpen must be reduced.
Reporter: Lately, CODEX issued the international standards for the organic livestock industry. The new feed additive is considered to have set the grounds for environment friendly organic livestock production and phasing-out of the use of antibiotics in feed, corresponding with the international standards.
