A patented technology of Sol to Bio ‘Biotite V,’ antibiotic substitute, has been recognized its value again.

Mr. Winston Jung, CEO of Seobong Bio Bestech Co., Ltd. that launched Sol to Bio ‘Biotite V’ received Chairman’s Award from Korea Invention Promotion Association at the ceremony of the 42nd anniversary of Invention Day, which was held at COEX on the 18th.

The ceremony of Invention day is the venue to pick out and reward meritorious inventors, who contribute significantly to the development of nation’s industry.

Biotite V (Sol to Bio), on which Seobong Bio Bestech Co., Ltd. obtained the invention patent, has been awarded a prize this time in recognition of such achievement as successful advancement into market, substitution effect for import with use of existing local resources, and the activation of overseas export through overseas patents.

‘Biotite V (Sol to Bio)’ is a natural mineral composite, which can not be found any other places in the world, has settled down as antibiotic substitute for animal feed additive representing Korea.

‘Biotite V (Sol to Bio)’s ‘animal feed composition for antibiotic substitute’ got a local patent (Patent No. 0343367) February 2001, a patent in China July 2005, U.S. March 2006, Japan July 2006, and Europe November 2006. It has currently obtained the patents in 24 counties in the world.

‘Biotite V (Sol to Bio)’ has the effects of antibiotic substitute for growth-promotion, improvement of immune function, prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, meat quality improvement, the reduction of the molds in animal feed, decrease in Zeralenon, prevention and treatment of PMWS. These effects, which have been spread by word of mouth among farm house users, have led to explosive sales performance.

In Korea, ‘Biotite V (Sol to Bio)’ has been contracted with and supplied to approximately 20,000 livestock farmers, compound feed factories under NongHyup (National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF)), regional branches of National Livestock Cooperative, and other feed factories. Approximately 4,000 tons of ‘Biotite V (Sol to Bio)’ have been supplied to livestock industry in Korea annually.

It has also received a good response from international market. Especially, the attention has been on the rise in Europe where the addition of antibiotics to feed has been banned effective from January 2006.

As an animal pharmaceutical company in Spain completed a field test on the replacement of antibiotics with ‘Biotite V (Sol to Bio)’ successfully, they placed an order of 20 tons in November 2003 for the first time, then 20 tons in 2004 and 20 tons in 2006.

In case of Japan, based on the success on product test by best veterinarians in Japan and the approval of product sale by Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Fisheries in 2003, the product has been exported with a supply contract with a partner in Japan.

In China, after the completion of two-year-inspection on product by Ministry of Agriculture(MOA) in May 2004, the registration and sales approval as new feed and new materials as an antibiotic substitute was obtained in May 2004. The report stating that ‘Biotite V (Sol to Bio)’ can replaced antibiotics completely was received as a result of the test, which was done in China Agriculture University at the same time.
